Community and Groups

Weekly and Bi-Weekly Groups

The Center provides funding, logistical support, and mentorship to a wide range of student groups and organizations. At the Center, “student organizations” refers to groups that are officially recognized on campus by the Center for Student Involvement, and “student groups” refers more generally to all of the student-led and student-initiated groups that meet at the Center or otherwise supported by the Center. In general, CSI-recognized organizations focus on supporting undergraduate students, whereas other groups at the Center support both undergraduate and graduate students.

Our weekly and bi-weekly student groups include AfroSpectrum, A-Space, LGBTQIA+ Latin American Association (LLAMA), NU Pride, Out in Business (OiB), Out in STEM (oSTEM), Pan Asian American Queer Alliance (PAAQA), Queer Book Club, Queer Curry, The Wholeness Initiative, Transformation, Fitness, and Movement, and Transgender & Gender Non-Conforming Identities.

One Weekday a Month (OWAM) Student Groups

In Spring 2023, the Center launched the One Weekday A Month (OWAM) program in order to provide spaces for students with shared identities or experiences to come together once per month. OWAMs pair a student facilitator or facilitators with a staff co-organizer in order to share the work of creating intentional community space.

Our OWAM student groups include Bi/Pan/Queer+ Students, LGBTQIA2S+ Graduate Students, LGBTQIA2S+ Disabled Students, and LGBTQIA2S+ International Students.

LGBTQA+ Alumni

Are you an alum of Northeastern University who would like to stay connected to the LGBTQA+ community and other happenings on campus? Were you a part of an LGBTQA student group, and would like to be updated on their progress? While we are growing as a resource on campus, we would love to connect more with all of our alumni, regardless of how long ago you were a part of the University, or in what capacity. Check out the Northeastern LGBTQA+ Alumni Network.

LGBTQA+ Faculty and Staff Affinity Group

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) supports the LGBTQA+ Faculty and Staff Affinity group. This group meets regularly to build community and to discuss collective concerns around campus. Learn more on ODEI’s website page for the affinity group.
