About
We invite you to join the Northeastern University LGBTQA Resource Center, Alumni Relations, and partners from Cultural and Spiritual Life for the iconic annual celebration of LGBTQIA2S+ graduates on Thursday, April 18th at 7:30pm. This event is open to graduating Northeastern students from all programs, schools, colleges, and degree levels; their friends, mentors, allies, supporters, and loved ones; and all other Northeastern community members wishing to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2024.
Graduates will receive their rainbow stoles and be honored with a brief program following dinner. Photo opportunities, music, dancing, and more will follow the formal program.
Northeastern’s Rainbow Graduation follows the pattern first established at the University of Michigan by Dr. Ronni Sanlo in 1995. Dr. Sanlo, a Jewish lesbian, was barred from attending the graduation of her children. Dr. Sanlo conceived of the ceremony as a way to recognize and celebrate the contributions that LGBTQ+ students make to their colleges and universities.
